LASER LIP ENHANCEMENT & PLUMPING

The reality up until this point in time is that if you wanted fuller, plumper lips, the only way to achieve this was to have fillers injected into your lips. Whilst this is a service that we offer at Border Medical Laser & Aesthetics, we are also aware of the fact that some of our clients are somewhat uncertain as to the idea of having fillers, so we have come up with what we think is a fantastic alternative: Laser Lip Plumping and Enhancement!

Due to the latest technology from Fotona®, we are excited to be able to bring this amazing treatment to the border area. This is a relatively quick and easy treatment with no down time attached.

The treatment involves a series of targeted heat pulses into the mucosa of the lips and this sets off a collagen reaction that gives the lips a fuller natural look. Because of the nature of this treatment, you will not lose the natural shape of your lips; they will just become plumper and enhanced.

The process involves one treatment a month for 3 months, then one treatment every 3 months to maintain the level of fullness you wish to achieve.

Consultation with Our Medical Team
Every person will require an appointment with our experienced laser consultant. At this appointment, you can ask as many questions as you like to advance your understanding of the treatment. There will be a medical questionnaire to be filled out about your health and medications. Some health conditions and medications will exempt you from laser treatment. A patch test will be performed on your skin to ensure the laser settings are suitable for you. 4-7 days after your patch test, we will commence your laser treatment.

Prior to Your Visit

Before laser therapy, it is very important to keep your face away from direct sun exposure. This is crucial both before and after the treatment. The lasers work on providing a specific heat at a specific depth in your tissue to produce the desired end point. This end point can be exacerbated if exposed to sun and can cause unwanted side effects.

What Can I expect During My Laser Treatment

You will be required to wear protective eye shields during the treatment; this is to protect your eyes from the intense laser light.

This laser treatment is not at all uncomfortable. There is no need to prepare your skin with anaesthetic, as you may need with any form of injectable. Most people will describe the treatment as a warm sensation and the feeling of pins and needles. Border Medical Laser & Aesthetics has a Koolio Machine that blows out chilled air onto the skin during or post treatment if you ever feel uncomfortable. Our laser consultant will talk with you all the way through the procedure to ensure your comfort.

This procedure will take about 15 minutes. This procedure will need to be performed 3 times, with a 4-week rest period between each. This will allow the collagen reaction to reach full level regeneration between each treatment. We do recommend maintenance treatments once every 3 months to maintain the desired level. This is, of course, varied for each individual person as his or her natural production, healing processes and reactions will be different; therefore, the laser consultant will advise during consultations as to the appropriate treatment plan to suit your needs.

What Can I Expect After My Treatment

There is no complex post-laser regime to follow after your treatment. Your lips may feel a little dry for 24 hours, so make sure you keep a good supply of lip balm or treatment to your lips. We recommend Synergie Skin® Lip Service™, as we are a proud stockist of this ground-breaking product.

You may also feel like your lips are a bit swollen for a day or so. This is the collagen reaction taking place in your lips, and this is the desired end point we are trying achieve. You must also avoid sun exposure to this area, as this remains important over the next week with regular use of lip protection.
